Errors related to License Activation

This document describes common errors that may occur when trying to activate Postico licenses.

Internet Connection Offline

Postico needs an internet connection to activate your license. After your license has been activated, you do not need an internet connection to use it.

There is a way to activate Postico without an internet connection, but it requires you to be familiar with using the command line. Please see the instructions for offline activation.

Invalid License Key

The license server could not find your license key. Most commonly this is caused by errors when typing the license key. License keys consist only of uppercase letters, digits, hyphens and underscores.

Try copy/pasting the license key to avoid errors.

License Limit Exceeded

You have tried to activate Postico on more devices than your license allows.

You can either extend your license for additional devices, or you can deactivate one of your previously activated devices.

Adding additional devices to your license

To purchase additional licenses, please go to the license manager website. Enter your license key to login, then look for the button labelled "Buy moreā€¦"

Postico 1.x licenses

Postico 2 is a paid upgrade. If you have purchased Postico 1.x, and want to use Postico 2, you need to purchase an upgrade. You can use this page to buy an upgrade.

Please note that you will receive a new license key if you purchase an upgrade. Postico will not automatically detect the upgrade. If you bought an upgrade to Postico 2, make sure to enter the new license key in Postico preferences.

Postico 2 development builds can be activated with Postico 1.x licenses. You can download development builds from the changelog.
