This document describes how to activate Postico licenses. If you are looking for the license terms, please click here.
You can use Postico 2 without a license for evaluation puproses. For any other purpose, you must purchase a license and activate it.
Postico 2 licenses are delivered as a short license key of the format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.
To activate your Postico 2 license:
If you have multiple user accounts on your Mac, you need to activate Postico separately on each account.
Multiple activations on a single Mac only count as one device with regard to the license limit.
You can place a text file with the license key on the path /Library/Application Support/Postico/license-key.txt to make Postico automatically activate itself for all users (see the section about Automatic License Activation below).
If you deactivate Postico on one of the accounts, it will automatically be deactivated on all accounts on the same Mac.
If you want to move your Postico 2 license to another Mac, you need to deactivate it on the old Mac first.
If you no longer have access to the old Mac, you can use the Postico 2 license manager instead:
In some cases, you may want to activate Postico licenses automatically without user intervention, eg. when you automatically deploy Postico to a managed device.
There are three ways to define a license key for automatic activation:
Every time Postico is launched, it checks the above places for a license key. If it finds a valid license key in either of the places, and it is not yet activated, it will try to activate the license automatically. This allows automatic installation of Postico on managed machines.
Postico will not try to re-activate automatically after you have deactivated the license. If you have deactivated the license, you need to re-activate manually by going to Postico preferences.
If you have preordered Postico 2, you have probably received a license file. You can activate your preorder license by double clicking the license file, or by dragging it on the Postico 2 icon.
Alternatively, you can use your order number (should start with "EGG") instead of the license key.
